Bo went elk hunting two weekends ago up in Silverton. He was successful in harvesting a big cow! (that's just a female elk Markelle) We had to man up and buy a chest freezer- cool because we were forced to clean our garage, and hopefully elk meat is as good as I remember! Cow meat is supposedly better than bull (male elk) which is probably true of humans too! :) He and his two buddies all had tags and both got animals down at the same time- sunset. They had to work into the night gutting and hanging their animals and hike back to camp. Because they all had their own elk to deal with they couldn't help each other much. Luckily they had a few other friends show up the next day to help pack out their meat. The terrain was incredibly steep and grueling especially when carrying two hind-quarters and a brisket! But the pay off was worth it! (I didn't have to carry any meat) Bo was really bloody, smelly, exhausted, and happy when he got home!
GOOD JOB BABY!!!
Jeff, Dan, Bo, and three dead elk!
Bo's Scout- they reported 120mi/hr winds in Silverton that weekend!
This is the beautiful area Bo was hunting!
I believe this was the mountain side Bo shot his elk!

Welcome back!
Sounds like a good kill. Are you making jerky out of it? Mmmmm...makes me hungry!
